Purple Martin Gourd Cap

Purple Martin Gourd Cap

Has a lid from your Purple Martin gourds ever come lose and blown away in a storm, never to be found? If so, here's a replacement lid you can print yourself. This should be compatible with Troyer or "Troyer's Birds' Paradise"-type gourds. Deliberately made to fit tightly to avoid loss in storms. If you find it is too tight to screw on, I suggest using a pocket knife to shave off a small amount of the crest of the thread to give it more room. Multiple file formats included, including Fusion 360 source file, if you want to make changes. Printed here at 0.1mm resolution, but 0.2 should work just as well. I used 30% infill, but there is so little infill that it will make little difference to strength or print time. I printed this with blue PLA for testing / visibility purposes, and put it in a north-facing location. However, for long-term use and to avoid thermal gain if the lid doesn't face north, I would suggest a UV-resistance white filament.
