I really liked the concept of Wilmar1006's ridge clip for fastening 1/2" pvc pipe to my ridge line, but I live in the snow belt, and was concerned about the pipe being buried in snow for most of the christmas light season. I've modified the design to have plugs that insert into 1/2" pvc so I can make custom length risers to get above the snow load on my roof. I went with 6" risers and the stability has been good so far. After testing my prototype, I went to the hardware store to get more pvc pipe, and found that the inner diameter tolerances can vary, even within the same manufacturer. I am NOT using Schedule 40 pvc, but the thinner wall stuff as schedule 40 is more than double the price. I have included the 2 inner diameters that I have come across so far; yours might be different. This is the very first thing I've ever modified so I'm sure it can be improved upon, but its working ok for me so far. I printed these in PETG at 0.28 layer height with a 0.4 nozzle. A larger nozzle is on my shopping list to increase print speed.
