There are many awesome replacement options for the X-Max's OEM "Suitcase Handle" style Filament Holder. But my only issue with all of the ones available on here is you have to remove the clear Cover to use them. I print with ABS, and I want the ability to keep the clear cover. This design fits in the same suitcase handle holders, but you leave them in the down position. You feed the material from the back (see photos) and in between the two rollers. I use the original short material feeder tube (1-1/8" to 1-1/2" in length) and I also inserted a 4mm x 18" standard (Capricorn works fine) Bowden tube inside this original black material tube. The other end just goes in the silver hole on the extruder. You don't have to use the Bowden tube, but it makes everything work flawlessly. In this configuration, you will want the convex (bigger/tapered) roller to be in the back. If you decide to feed over the top and directly into the extruder (this also works fine), you'll want to assemble your roller with the convex roller to the front. if you don't, It will not self center (but it will still work just fine) You'll also need two 8mm x 120mm bolts and two matching lock nuts. Don't tighten the bolts too tightly, just enough to take all of the play out. You "could use a 5/16" bolt, but for nice clean fit... the metric works better. The maximum width of a roll of filament is 3-5/8" If you do both of these modifications, (the roller and the Bowden tube) I think you'll love your X-Max 3D printer (I do!). Good luck!!!!
