Qidi X-One2 Spool Mount Mod

Qidi X-One2 Spool Mount Mod

My goal was to put my X-One2 on a shelf so I have room for my Ender 3 Pro that will arrive soon. I needed to be able to change the filament easily, and this mod allows you to attach the spool to the top of a Qidi X-one2 (older version) and change it from in front. I used the right side handle as the mount and inserted longer screws, so this can easily and quickly be removed and the system restored to stock. This design uses an existing filament roller design (www.thingiverse.com/thing:3471434) that I first printed for my Ender 3 Pro. I've included his files here to save you time. For his roller pins, use extra wall layers to give it strength because all the stress is on the pins inserted into the bearings. Print the Handle Mount, unscrew the X-One2 handle and replace the M4x6 handle bolts with M4x8 bolts. The Plate sits on top of the frame and screws into the Handle Mount. I used M4x10 bolts with nuts to attach these. The Upright attaches to the plate with two M4x10 bolts and nuts. Make sure it seats well, you may need to sand it a little, especially if you print this at 0.3mm. The Upright had to be made thick because it flexes with a spool on it. I will probably make a new part that includes the plate and upright into one part once my Ender 3 gets here, but the bed size on the X-One2 limits the size and it would be cheating to put a mod out that doesn't fit the bed of that printer. Without the spool, the whole assembly flexes left and right, but the stresses are straight down and is more stable with a spool on it. It does bend a little with a full roll on it, but within a very acceptable range and the roller with the bearings puts very little stress on the whole assembly. UPDATE: This works great, the roller is so smooth that I had to put a rubber band around the roller and holder. It's not tight but not loose, it fits without needing to be stretched. This was needed to act as a damper, when the extruder moved quickly, the spool unwound and kept moving. The rubber band fixed the problem. UPDATE 2: I still wasn't happy with the upright sagging with a full roll on it. Created Upright Ver 2 with a 3 degree tilt backwards and 20mm shorter to reduce the flex. Now I think I'm done.
