I'll add more details later, but here's the setup for now, with a specific combination of hardware in mind. I made this work as well as it could, given the constraints. To make this all function properly, you'll need to modify the metal X carriage (i.e., cut it), remove the X ribbon, and add a new cable whip. Duet mounting brackets might be added later too, but even though they worked for me, there's still room for improvement to make them more universal across all Series 1 printers.
