Quail Breeding Cage

Quail Breeding Cage

I designed this based on commercially available cage systems on the internet. With a stout enough support frame. these could be stacked several high. I have only stacked 2 sections with a wood frame and it held up well. This is not a print and go project. There is drilling, sanding, and fitting that will need to be done. The cage is held together with only high quality zip-ties. The feed trough I uploaded some time back was designed to fit the front of this cage system https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5438087. Water cups are plumbed to the back of the cage. You will need access to a large format printer to build the sides and center sections. Other non-printed items will need to be sourced to complete the cage. This was a fun project, enjoy! For one 36" wide 3 section setup you will need the following parts: 1-Front 2-Side_LR_RO 2-Center_W_RO 2-Center_Divider 3-D_Final_New OR 3-D_Final (*same as above but without the lip) 4-Slot_Leg 4-Backing_Plate 2-RO_EndPlate 2-RO_EndPlate2 Additional non printed items needed* Lots of high quality small and medium zip ties. Roll of 36" wide 1/2*x 1/2" or 1/2"x1" wire mesh. 1"x2" wood or 1.5"x1.5" steel angle for legs. Lid or roof material. I used some leftover blue plastic panel. Piece of aluminum or wood for the egg stop at the end of the rollout tray. One per cage 25x36 metal drip pan. This is for a slide out litter tray. Can be found at most farm stores or Auto Parts stores. Screws/Bolts/Wire/various types of hardware. Other items that I have forgotten to write down *The 2 style Doors above are the same but I later added a lip onto the outside face of the door. It helps reduce some loss of feed as the birds shake their heads or pull the feed with their beaks while eating. ** If you have no intentions of ever using it as a colony cage you can print 4 of the end panels and omit the center sections and the dividers too,
