Qualcast Panther Lawnmower Pinions (Yellow and Blue)

<p>I've owned a Qualcast Panther 380 push lawnmower for many years. &nbsp;It's unbreakable, solid, and does an excellent cut. &nbsp;If you own one, you might already know that there are two small pinion gears inside the wheels that need replacing every so often, so that the drive doesn't slip when you push it. &nbsp;</p><p>At the start of 2020, as we entered the first pandemic lockdown, I dug the mower out of the shed for the first cut of the season. &nbsp;It became apparent that I needed new gears as the mower was slipping. &nbsp;I looked online, but couldn't find any for sale at anything near a reasonable price (someone was asking £50 just for shipping). &nbsp;So I did what any self-respecting maker would do, Printed my own. &nbsp;This wasn't an easy modelling job, the ratchet shape on the underneath of the gears took many iterations to get right, but I'm happy with the result. &nbsp;</p><p>My first print of the two pinions has lasted for two seasons (2020 and 2021) it's only now, coming into the 2022 season that I think it's time for some new ones. &nbsp;It's also time (now I've proven them ) that I share the models and give a little back to the community.&nbsp;</p><p>I printed these in PLA, using 100% infill and at .35mm layer height. &nbsp;I would like to think that the durability of the printed gears is almost the same as the bought/original ones, but of course, your mileage will vary. &nbsp;In order to help differentiate, there is a small Y (for yellow) and B (for Blue) on the side of each model to show which one they replace, I thought about having a L(eft) and R(right) on there too, but then you'd never know if it was looking at the mower from the front or back! &nbsp;WATCH OUT FOR THE SMALL METAL BAR IN THE AXLE WHEN YOU TAKE THE WHEEL OFF!<br><br>&nbsp;</p><figure class="media"><oembed url="https://youtu.be/iq800qHrOsg"></oembed></figure><p>Have fun, happy mowing, and I hope your garden gives you as much pleasure as mine does for me.</p>
