These cases are to help with repeated plugging-in of quartz crystals in ham radio transmitters. They are designed to house a HC-49/U or HC-49/S crystal in the older FT-243 form factor. Old tube radios used crystals like this to determine the oscillation frequency. Needed hardware: 2x brass pin: 3/32" (0.09375") 3/4" long 3x machine screw: M3 x 9mm or 4-40 x 3/8" 1x Quartz crystal - desired frequency in HC-49/U or HC-49/S CAUTION!!! The current model cannot accept machine screws without cracking the post. They need to be tapped for M3 or 4-40 threads before inserting the screws. Also, the prescribed screw lengths are the longest that should be attempted. A 1/2" or 12mm screw will be too long to fit. Desired future updates: - Internal screw posts with threads for M3 and 4-40 screw types - Snap-fit lids to eliminate need for screws - Text on lids to indicate crystal frequency - Reinforcements where needed to increase mechanical strength
