Enter the worlds of Qube. Warner Cable Corporation, a subsidiary of Warner Communications, Inc., had developed a cable television service involving innovative multi-channel programming and sophisticated two-way communications between subscribers homes and computer-equipped studio facilities. The 30­channel service made its official debut December 1, 1977 to approximately 100,000 homes served by Warner’s existing cable television system in Columbus, Ohio. By pressing buttons on a console, subscribers could receive 30 channels of video and other information. select programs, play interactive games, take tests, instantly register their opinion and actually participate at home in television programs and events. Pay TV could be selected on an individual basis and was automatically billed by the computer.
