Quick assembly ladybugbot chassis
thingiverse
Eager to simplify the assembly process of ladybugbot (found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:12975), I devised a single shell design with cutouts for motors and wider slots for electronics insertion. Aiming for a five-minute, hassle-free setup, I printed the new shell on my TOM in 45 minutes (raftless for better bottom finish). Though I haven't yet captured video of this version in action, you can view its predecessor scooting around at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T493fRskCPA&feature=feedu. For assembly, drop your .26" diameter and .72" long motors into the bottom shell's square holes. Route the motor wires within the shell through designated openings. Secure the motors with hot glue while ensuring motor shaft clearance. Finally, place toothbrush heads over the motors, also applying hot glue for stability. Your streamlined, fast-to-assemble 'bot is now ready to roll!
