Quick CNC table positioning with spider coupler adapter
thingiverse
Spider coupler adapter for use in manually repositioning a CNC milling machine table. This handy tool comes in handy when only the lead screw portion of the spider coupler is attached, while the other portion remains connected to a stepper motor. You can choose to use either of these adapter heads depending on whether the elastomeric junction (the rubbery part between the two ends) is or isn't on the metal coupler connected to the lead screw. Once the table is snugly aligned in its desired position, reattach the stepper motor. This tool proves useful after a tear-down for maintenance or before reconnecting the stepper to check the travel of the table. Attach the glue/acetone weld base (screwdriver) portion to the adapter head. This spider coupler adapter was used on a Central Machinery Micro mill with a Littlemachineshop.com CNC retrofit that utilizes Standard Lovejoy spider couplers (L-050 0.250). Feel free to change the driver head on the adapter to anything you prefer, other than a screwdriver. A hex head of a power screwdriver or even a ratchet with an extender could work just as well. ----- Project notes ----- CAD: Truespace V7.61 Platform: Up!3d using ABS 0.75 filament, fast mode, 200 micron resolution at near 90% fill (for added torsional strength). Art to part time: 45 minutes (including measurement, design, and printing). Testing of part: Worked as designed. The groove for the blade of the screwdriver doesn't need to be so deep. Used with a power screwdriver.
