Custom printable feet for a full-size R2D2. ----------------------------------------------------------------- These feet (Central leg, Legs and Batteries) were modeled for a unique R2D2, which was assembled in the Nova Scotia Community Colledge. Since the system of the motors is unique, the parts were modeled to fit it. However, it does not mean these files cannot be used for similar projects or, at least, be a starting point for modeling custom feet for your R2D2 robot. PLEASE NOTE: The files do not include the grey semi-spherical and other decorative details. They were already printed (using the Astromech STL files) when I started the modeling, so we did not need to reprint those, and I would encourage you to download them from the original source. This article "The Comprehensive Guide to Building a Realistic R2-D2 Replica" might be a good source of information and links: https://makezine.com/projects/building-your-first-r2 At college, we used our own drive system, which differs from the described in the article, but the size is approximately the same, and, once again, the small details from the Astromech fit perfectly. Assembling ---------------- In order to assemble the legs, you may use bolts and the glue (for the magnets). Of course, the glue may add some strength when everything is assembled, but it might be harder to replace a piece when the structure is solid. Enjoy your modeling and good luck with your project!
