The [Raleno PLV-S104](https://www.ralenos.com/1-1) is an LED video light that is popular as a cheap light source for [digital negative film scanning](http://natephotographic.com/dslr-film-scanning-perfect-color-negatives/) using a dSLR or mirrorless camera. The problem with the Raleno is that it can't be laid flat, because it is designed for tripod use and has two knobs sticking out of the back. This Raleno lightbox model is an adapter that features cutouts for the controls, port, and mount of the Raleno 104 light so it can be laid flat for negative film scanning use. You can still plug in a micro-USB cable to power the light from an external charger and reach the controls through the open bottom of the lightbox. Air vents around the sides of the lightbox provide a route for heat to escape during long scanning sessions. There are many film carriers available to print or purchase that you can use for negative film scanning. The system I'm using is the [*Valoi* negative holder](https://www.valoi.co/products) which comes in both 35mm and 120 film sizes. I've provided a holder model for the *Valoi* that should fit both their 35mm and 120 version - but not their advancer. This holder fits into the lightbox and masks off any extraneous light that might otherwise add unwanted glare or reflections to your scans, lighting only the film in the carrier. If you are using another brand or model carrier (e.g., one bought from *Negative Supply* or *Essential Film*, or printed like a [*Kamerakraft*](https://www.kamerakraft.com/film-scanning-carrier) or any carrier model from Thingiverse) I've also provided a blank holder file you can modify. Just measure the cutout required to fit the system of your choice and apply it to the blank holder. This is easily done in even the simplest modeling software (e.g., [Tinkercad](https://www.tinkercad.com/)). You can also read my blog about this model here: https://style.oversubstance.net/2021/07/3d-printable-raleno-104-lightbox-adapter-for-camera-film-scanning/ **Note:** When using default layer height and infill settings your holder will probably not be fully opaque. Some light will leak through the holder, but most glare will be cut and I do not expect this to affect your scans. If you want to make sure that no light makes it through, it's best to mask the bottom of your holder using an opaque material like electrical tape. Even when printed at 100% infill there is no guarantee your holder will be fully opaque.
