Raspberry Pi + Camera Setup for Monoprice MP Mini Delta

thingiverse

This is a set of parts to mount a Raspberry pi and a Pi camera to your Monoprice MP Mini Delta. Together with the amazing Octoprint software you can manage, live stream and timelapse your MP Delta, all wirelessly using a web gui! The Pi mount consists of four arms which latch into the slots on the Mini's verical rails. The other side of each arm screws into the Pi using the standard holes. An "x" baseplate is provided to prevent short-circuits against the case. Fasten the arms and the baseplate to your pi using screws/nuts. The green cap pictured isn't included in this kit but is a part of another thing I created. The camera mount consists of an arm which is screwed into the base using an existing screw hole (remove the existing screw and install a slightly longer screw). The baseplate mount arm is the exact same height as the baseplate so even if you're doing full-bed prints it won't collide PROVIDED YOU MOUNT IT WITH THE JOINT FACING DOWN. The mount connects to two other jointed sections and a mount for the camera. The arm allows a great deal of motion to handle different build volumes. The camera intentionally does NOT have movement on the ROLL axis. Since the camera is centered on the build plate it doesn't need it. You can position the arm in a lot of different ways. By collapsing both arms on top of each other the camera can be placed almost baseplate level. By stretching it all the way out you can see the entire vertical print volume. Each of the joints has a countersunk hex socket to make tightning easier. To set this up you will need: - Raspberry Pi http://amzn.to/2CkVG9C - Raspberry Pi camera V2 http://amzn.to/2BXnmOo - Long flex cable for Pi camera http://amzn.to/2CmnU1r - Short USB cable (you have one of these) - 4x M2.5x16 screws/nuts for Raspberry Pi - 4x M2x8 screws/nuts for Pi Camera (you can get away with 2 - 4 is overkill) - 1x M3x16 screw (for attaching camera arm to the base) - 3x M3x16 screws/nuts (for the arm joints) For the screws I just bought an assortment pack: http://amzn.to/2Cqf8j1 optional: Gooseneck usb LED lights (I used Ikea Jansjo lights. ) All of the parts are sized so they will print just fine on the mini. I was able to print most of them without supports although the arms with the countersunk sockets benefitted from small supports. Print them at 70% or better and 0.2mm layer height since some of the parts are kinda thin. You'll need to print each of the Pi mount arms and the extension arm twice to make your kit. All of the parts print correctly on the Delta but you'll need to fill the bed twice.
