Raspberry Pi Switch Box

Raspberry Pi Switch Box

thingiverse

A box for particular Raspberry Pi peripherals. Includes an integrated switch lever, a section for a piezoelectric buzzer, and mounts for metal switch contacts and a circuit board with an LED to indicate power status of the Pi. A switch consisting of the lever, mounts for contacts, and metal strips to be provided is intended to be used to send a signal to shutdown the Pi. Design is modeled after a CanaKit Raspberry Pi case, with a gap provided between base and lid to allow leading wires out of the case. To construct the switch, a strip of metal provided with two holes should be attached to the cantilevered portion of the lid, with the posts on the portion extending through the metal. Another strip of metal with holes on its ends should be attached to extend across the end of the cantilevered portion with posts extending therethrough such that pressing the cantilevered portion will bring the two pieces of metal into contact. The posts may be melted or glue applied thereto to hold the metal pieces in place. Wires to provide electrical connections should be attached to the metal strips prior to the strips' attachment to the lid. A small circuit board with an LED attached should be provided with holes sized and positioned to match the tall posts, with the LED positioned on the board such that it is visible through the hole on the lid. The circuit board may be fixed to the posts in the same manner as the metal strips.
