Rattlesnake like shaker

Have fun with this shaker, and learn the way a rattlesnake's rattle works. Improve it if you like, play some music or just get amazed by nature. Print Settings Printer: prusa mendel Hibryd Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm layers Infill: 100% or 25% Notes: 0.5 nozzle, 0.5 mm shell, fan cooling. 0.5% infill overlap The challenging thing is to print it in one setting using the longest side as Z axis, there are some bridging sections that might be challenging to. I tried it in PLA and ABS. For my taste, it sounds better in PLA, but that might be a matter of material's quality or just personal taste. Find out which one sounds better for you, maybe with woodlike material but i've never tried that one so i don't know how it sounds. Real one is brownish transparent, kind of nail like or horn like tissue, for if you would like to give it some realism touch. Post-Printing Links might get stuck, just apply some force to release them; or use a sharp object to separate one link from the other in between the layers. Or pause the print before every link stars and aply stick glue to the part in which the next link will star to be printed, then apply wáter when is finished and links will separate easily one from the other. How I Designed This Discovering the amazing. I used to have a real rattlesnake's rattle that was given to me from a snakes zoo. I enjoyed so much finding out how it works, so i felt in the obligation of making one. When i saw 3d printing i thought: well, that way you can make a rattlesnake's rattle like the real one, without seams and in the way the snake grows it. Amazing thing is, for what i know, rattlesnake is the only animal that has a separated jointed device. I mean is the only one that have that kind of articulated device hanging without being stuck to the body, but remains attached to the animal. I would like to make a more real like one, but is a very intrincated design and i wanted to try it first in a geometrical shape, then i will start shaping it more detailed. Challenging thing is that the real one is very thin, and have an internal structure; also i don't have the real one any more, so i have to use my memory, or pictures.
