RBL PVC Pipe Mount

RBL PVC Pipe Mount

This is a remix of the Really Big Light rebar mount adapter. In the north anything we pound in the ground will be frozen in place until spring. Wanting to avoid rebar sticking up out of the ground for the first four months of the year, I decided to find a way to mount my RBL's in a way I could remove them after the holidays. The mount and base has NPT threads for 1/2" PVC pipe. I bought three pieces of 1/2" x 24" PVC riser pipe, usually found in the lawn sprinkler area of any home improvement store ($1.73 each at Menard's). I used a full length one for the vertical section and cut the other two in half for the legs. With the base legs about 24" wide it's very stable and the pipe threads fit nice and snug into the printed parts. The top of the bulb is about 38" high. I plan to run the wires inside of the pipes, coming out the ends of the legs. 9/9 - On request, I've added a version of the RBL mount with a slip fitting on top that fits a 1/2" PVC pipe (unthreaded). This can be used to attach an RBL adapter cap, such as https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2053307. To use this you would need to modify the white bracket that is included inside the RBL. You'll also need to drill a hole in this upper pipe to route your wire down through the pipes and out the leg. Note - don't overtighten the legs into the base fitting; slightly snug should be fine. Tapered threads can put a lot of outward pressure on a fitting and cause it to split along one of the layers.
