RC Aircraft Skis

RC Aircraft Skis

thingiverse

These are skis which can be printed and used with any RC aircraft for takeoffs and landings on snow. I use them on my Horizon Twin Otter and they're great fun. They are 7.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches wide. They are designed for 3mm wire gear mounts, but if it is requested I can update the files to include other wire widths to fit any aircraft. The skis have a stopper around the mounting point that limits the rotation to 25 degrees upward so that they don't dig in. In order for this to work you must have some sort of elastic to pull it up. I bought a cheap set of springs on Amazon for this purpose, but rubber bands would work fine. The springs (or rubber bands) must attach above the pivot point, so I made clips that clip onto the legs and prevent the spring from sliding down. Print the ski on its side with a brim for adhesion.
