RC Speed Tank - Alternate Treads

RC Speed Tank - Alternate Treads

thingiverse

Inspired by evil_k (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2227184), I threw together a couple of alternate treads for the RC Speed Tank. I'm still in the process of testing them, so take them with a grain of salt! All 3 need support. UPDATE: Added v1.1 and v3.1. The treads are thicker and deeper. After printing and evaluating v1.1, I think 3 treads per link is too many, and would prevent it from biting into surfaces to get friction. v3.1 is the single tread. I'm going to print a full set of tracks of v3.1 and test them out. UPDATE: Printed out two tracks with v3.1. Initial testing shows significant traction gain, even on smooth surfaces like concrete/tile. I'll try it outside later on and see how it handles branches/etc. Print Settings Printer: D-Bot Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 50% Notes: Higher the infill the better. At 20% infill the links break too easily around the bolts when you hit something. So far with 50% I haven't had one break.
