DESCRIPTION: This is a RC wheel balancer I created that basically is a stand and to it you mount an Arrma 6s rear hub with axle/bearings/hexes. With the 6s rear hub you will be able to balance 17mm hex wheels but I've also included adapters that can be quickly mounted so you can balance 12mm hex and 14mm hex wheels. See below for assembly instructions and description of optional parts depending on your parts/needs.
Stand Assembly Instructions: -Insert hub balancer post into the recessed hole in the base of the stand. -Secure post to the base with (2) M3x16 flat head screws through the holes on the bottom of the base. Mounting the Arrma 6s Hub to the Stand: -Ensure hub is assembled with all required parts (see the bottom for full parts list) and align the hub mounting holes with the provided holes on the top of the stand post. -For the top of the hub use (1) M3x20mm or longer screw through the aligned holes and secure it with (1) M3 nylon nut. -For the bottom of the hub use (1) M4x30mm or longer screw (alternative: use an Arrma 6s M4 outer hinge pin). Secure the screw with (1) M4 nylon nut.
IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING ARRMA 6s REAR HUBS: There are basically two versions of the Arrma 6s rear hub between all the 6s models (36mm wide and 45mm wide). The recommended version are the hub parts used in the 6s Kraton/Notorious/Outcast which is the 45mm wide version. If you choose to use the 36mm wide version (found in the 6s Infraction/Felony/Limitless/Mojave/Talion) you won't be able to fully tighten down the wheel nuts on 17mm 3.8MT sized wheels because the wheels will collapse on the hub preventing it from turning, so you will have to not use a wheel nut or only very loosely tighten it. Either hub works fine if using the 12/14mm adapters. For a full hub parts list scroll to the bottom of the description.
12mm and 14mm Adapters These adapters are designed to screw onto the outer threads of the 17mm wheel hexes. Arrma stock hexes are M12x1.0 thread sized however if you are using aftermarket hexes the thread pitch may be be M12x1.25. Be sure to print the version appropriate for your application. In order to mount 12mm/14mm wheels to the adapters you first need to install (1) M4x12 or longer socket head screw through the center of the adapter (see pictures for reference). It is possible to use a normal button head style screw but it is recommended to use a socket head screw because the recessed hole inside the adapter is designed to fit snuggly around a socket head helping it to stay perfectly straight over time. Once the screw is installed simply thread the adapter onto the end of the 17mm hex until it is snug, then mount your 12mm/14mm wheel accordingly securing it with (1) M4 nylon nut or flanged nut.
Recommended Stand/Base Printer/Slicer Parameters: - Nozzle: 0.4mm - Layer Height: 0.2 to 0.24mm - Line Width: 0.4mm - Infill: 20-50% Recommended Adapter Printer/Slicer Settings: Since the threads are so fine, these settings will ensure best thread fitment. - Nozzle: 0.4mm or 0.3mm - Layer Height: 0.12mm - Line Width: 0.3mm - Infill: 75-100%
Here is a full Arrma parts list for the rear hub stuff needed: Recommended 45mm Hub Parts (used in the 6s Kraton/Notorious/Outcast): - Rear Hub Assembly: AR330404 - Rear Wheel Axle(8x45mm): AR310591 - Bearings - Outer bearing(8x16x5mm): AR610016, Inner bearing (15x21x4mm): AR610018 - Wheel Hex Parts - Wheel hex(16.5mm thick): AR310484, Wheel nuts(17mm): AR310449, Hex pins(2.5x16.8mm) AR713009 Alternative 36mm Hub Parts (used in the 6s on-road Infraction/Felony/Limitless and the off-road Talion/Typhon/Mojave): - Rear Hub Assembly: AR330193 - Rear Wheel Axle(8x36mm): AR310431 - Bearings - Outer bearing(8x16x5mm): AR610016, Inner bearing (15x21x4mm): AR610018 - Wheel Hex Parts - Wheel hex(14.6mm thick) ARA311035, Wheel nuts(17mm): AR310449, Hex pins(2.5x16.8mm) AR713009 If you don't have spare rear hub parts already and you want to make obtaining the rear hub parts easier/more economical, I recommend sourcing through a kit breaker like jennysrc.com or justbashitrc.com.
