My 2000 V70R already had the rear hatch repair kit from IPD installed (shown here: https://www.ipdusa.com/products/4807/124550-tailgate-panel-repair-kit) but the clips continued to fail. The plastic on the door panel was too broken to properly receive the reinforcements in the kit. I decided to make my own clip that screws through the outside of the panel. I don't mind the screws showing! This clip fits inside the receiving end on the metal hatch, and provides two screw holes that go around whatever plastic remains on the interior panel. I used a 26 size drill bit and #6 wood screws.
