Recursive Snowflakes

Recursive Snowflakes

thingiverse

Here are two recursive snowflakes, one composed entirely of hexagons, the second of hypocycloids. The openSCAD code that produced them was supplied to me by D J Moews who kindly allowed me to post it here under the attribution creative commons license. Both snowflakes have hexagonal symmetry; the hypocycloids having 6 cusps. The two snowflakes are similar but the one composed of hypocycloids is slightly more open. However it takes much longer to calculate. Instructions Files are: recursive_snowflake_hexagons.stl recursive_snowflake_hypocycloids.stl recursive_snowflake_hexagons.scad recursive_snowflake_hypocycloids.scad recursive_snowflake_hexagons.dxf recursive_snowflake_hypocycloids.dxf The snowflakes have sides about 48 mm long and a thickness of 3 mm. They can be printed with or without a raft. Dxf files have been included for the laser engravers.
