Because I can't own a thing without modifying it... sometimes like in this case, even before I use it.... I already swapped the radio gear to my fs-gt3b and I need to go to a 3s 5000... so I jumped in cad tonight (it arrived tonight) measured everything, and made myself a battery shelf that will let the larger battery fit under the body shell and secure it without any actual cutting of the chassis... though I may design and cut a new chassis on my CNC from aluminum... haven't decided yet. so my new Blackout XTE Pro gets a battery shelf... the prototype is in pla... will probably do a final in PETG later if it works and I don't blow up my ego with the harbolax battery. I may be groot. Oh Crapdoodles... not sure this is a good idea after driving the truck with the stock 7.4v battery... but I started this thing and I am going to finish it... even if it finishes me. I re-engineered the shelf to --actually-- fit the car as it exists in the real world rather than my symmetrical fantasies... one hole is 12mm further out... now it works... and I added slots so the clips can actually fully engage on the posts. (I drilled a hole in my first print to check... then I printed a .5mm thick shelf layer to verify.) I also changed the geometry to add a forward stop for the battery so that if you slam into a curb at 45+MPH, (ahem) you don't launch a $40 battery and your truck's body and maybe body posts into a tree or house or person and set them on fire. if you are really insane, you could add a 3s battery on top of your 2s battery and make a 5s... but you would need a much better speed controller... or you could double up in paralell for super long drive times... -- but -- don't forget any of this makes your CG higher (even just the shelf) and will affect performance... it might just be smarter to modify a chassis since they cost about $20 on amazon... but nobody ever claimed I was smarter than me... Lets see how much damage I can do this time.... it was a huge parking lot... and I found the one curb in it... I shoulda been wearing my glasses or let my 5 year old drive.... side note, you will need to move or remove the wire clip from the top of the driveshaft cover/ stiffener to fit a battery up there.
