Redesigned Desk Cup Holder

Desk Cup HolderBy: Aleks Novakovich and Mitchel HenryWhether it is a desk in an office or a school, we all need extra space to be able to work on our desks. That’s why bringing drinks to work or school can be a problem. Often times I’ll find myself knocking over my drink trying to find extra space on my desk. The product we chose to redesign was a desk cup holder that can attach to the side of a desk that allows you to be able to bring a refreshment to the workplace and still have enough room on your desk. The past desk cup holders that have been created have certain weaknesses to them. One of the current desk cup holders on the market is a spring clip that can attach to the side of a desk. The problem with this design is that the spring may not be able to support heavier drinks causing the clip to fall off. Our design has the same purpose, but is more effective in holding different size drinks and can support heavier weight. It attaches to the side of a desk in a more secure manner by providing more surface area for the cup holder to attach to. Instead of a clip with a spring to attach to the desk, we designed a part that would be on the top part of the desk, and a peg would screw up from the bottom with a rectangular piece tightening to the desk.
