Reel mower roller

Designed for my Great States 16" 5-blade push reel mower. I wanted to cut longer than the mower allows (2.5" from bed knife to deck) so I figured I could print over-sized rollers and replace the stock ones. If replaced with oversized, you lose the ability to drop down low so you will need to keep your stock rollers. This isnt really a big deal since they only take a few seconds to change. I printed mine for about a 3" cut and filled them with mortar/cement for a nice 14-15lb (combined) roller. If not filling with cement, you may want to make the roller wall a bit thicker. You will need to print two of them (theyre the same part, one of them just slides onto the rod in the reverse direction) and keep/use the center spacer that comes on the roller rod between the two stock rollers. This roller design can be used on other mowers or with a custom roller setup. If that is the case, you may need to change some of the other parameters in the design. Everything is parametric so feel free to change things and the model will still work. Ive added a volumetric estimate for the void space (in cubic centimeters) to help with estimating how much cement you'll need if you want to fill the rollers. Mine measured 1500cc (1.5L) per roller when i filled with water, even though the output says 1480cc or something. I used about 5.8kg of RapidSet mortar mix and it was near perfect to fill the two rollers. This should give you an idea of how much youll need if you want to fill yours. If you want to make them heavier without cement, you could print them with a thicker roller wall for strength and just fill with sand and maybe leave space to seal it up with some epoxy or something.
