Just a remix of some doomsdaywombats' most excellent Portal Gun parts. My mods are: 1) Took the source .stl files and split the body into top and bottom. 2) Hacked in an access door into the bottom with plenty of room for a small breadboard, 3) made the ring thingy a bit taller so as better to control the sharp edges of the bulb, and 4) carved space for a pair of these (Display Development Tools Quad Alphanumeric Display - Red 0.54 Digits w/ I2C Backpack) or equivalent. 5) removed usb & charging ports on front plate. NOTE: the two display backpays have up to 8 characters. The displays are a bit smaller than expected, so now I plan to use 6 all of them (Rick from dimension OU-812 clearly has a larger number of infinite universes than either Rick C-132 or Rick C-137), so the carved out body area now has an insert thingy which can be easily modified to fit pretty much any of those sorts of things with a minimum of hassle will hide the leftmost and rightmost characters and you can easily add more LEDs if you're particular Rick's infinity is larger still! UNTESTED, but currently printing. The .stl files are not oriented for optimal printing, so you'll want to rotate them around in your slicer - flat side down. Useful (?) link: I found a cool spreadsheet for calculating 7-seg LED array values, and imported it into Google-whatsis. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pYGYuhnyucMFdlo32WIKG-ijMMi1c3BjgaXgjWzRghg/edit?usp=sharing Added some in progress pix, be sure to go all the way to the full size version of em cuz they get cropped pretty bad in the thumbnails and previews.. The green-glowy 'spoogemotron' module follows doomsdaywombats basic instructions. except has 2 green LEDs, and 1 blue LED formerly 2 RGB LEDs attached to unique pins and uses fade and random(foo, bar) to create a pulsing effect on each diode. Green foo is larger than Blue foo, and similarly Blue bar is a greater value than Green foo (for each Green). Additionally, the base of the spoogemotron has 3 white leds on a common pin, pointed upwards. Final note: The door on the bottom could use more/better work, and the handle should be hollowed out for the battery. The arduino sketch doesn't allow for dimension hopping yet, but the code is in place for displaying several popular destinations. You shoulda seen the look on the guys face at the battery store when I walked in, in full Rick attire with this thing - priceless! Some potentially useful sketches for the thing: https://github.com/Nevaar/PortalGun_Rick-OU-812 (note: Not anymore, sorry. I refuse to support the Micro$oft acquisition of github and deleted all of my GH repositories. I now keep all of my code stored in IPFS on OrangePi nodes on my mesh network.)
