I made a detachable reel to keep my small samples steady while using the least amount of filament possible. They don't need to be tightened for them to stay in place firmly. Size 120 external, 90 internal diameter, with a thickness of 30 (Size 120 external, 90 internal, and 30 thick) I created a removable coil so that my samples wouldn't dangle while using the minimum amount of filament required. They don't have to be super tight for them to last.
