After 12 years of seasonal use, the flexible plastic hoses on my 3-quart LiquiVac motor oil extraction device had become hardened and no longer stayed securely attached to their fittings. Although the LiquiVac is still available for purchase from Amazon and elsewhere, one of the two replacement hoses that was needed is not a standard size that I could find locally. The solution was to make a ½” male to ⅜” female connector that worked with hose sizes readily available in big box hardware stores. About 3” of ½” ID hose, and several feet of ⅜” OD hose are required. A few cents of filament prevented me spending about $40 for a new LiquiVac unit.
