This is a replacement for the twist knobs on cages that push two rods up into the cage top and bottom. A friend of mine has several dog cage doors that have the center of the knob cracked up. I have no idea how he managed that.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Monoprice

Printer:

Mini Delta

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.21mm

Infill:

20%

Notes:

Remove the support material. Screw the smaller piece against the door using the screw from the back. Put the spring in place. It will be difficult, but try to get the two rods into the two round holes just inside the knob. Put the cover on and press it down and screw it in place from the back.

At the time that I am writing this, I am not sure if the spring will cooperate with the assembly. It is a really stiff spring. You might be able to replace it with a wad of paper towel of something else that will push back, I suppose. I chose the two cylinder method because the small hollow shaft was too fragile when using my crappy filament and I imagined others may have trouble too. It also caused a great increase in the amount of support material needed which led to more ability to warp. Being able to easily substitute other things for the spring is just a happy side-effect.

The original spring makes layer separation issues much worse, so make sure you print this at high enough of a temperature if you use it.

If the part warps, try it out anyway. It might work and not even require the spring that came with the door. The warped plastic can act like a spring.

If the knob will not turn with the screws tightened all the way, try loosening them a little and that may fix the issue. This may also be an effect of the spring being too stiff.

Category: Replacement Parts
