An active cooling solution for printed filament of both printer heads of R2X. It reduces curling of corners and smaller parts on ABS prints. The fan is powered by external USB power supply, like a USB phone charger, or powered USB port on computer. I decided to go with an external power source, so I don't have to monkey with the R2X electronic. With this design, when installed properly, it will clear all internal R2X parts within the normal range of travel. The two photos with the red sphere printed in MBI PLA shows the difference in result between with and without active cooling for PLA printing. Instructions Parts List: Print R & L nozzle parts Print Thing:109359 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:109359 Digikey part #259-1446-ND, Sunon 5VDC Blower USB cable or desire length USB charger that is rated at least .5W. (pretty much any phone charger would work) Nozzle Instruction: Print the nozzle parts in ABS @ 0.25mm, 15% fill, no raft, no support, split side on building platform Smooth out the inside of the nozzle wall where bridging took place, by cutting out the small loose strains, then apply some ABS glue to smooth out uneveness Glue two sides of the nozzle together with ABS glue Reinforce the fan opening area on the nozzle with ABS Band-Ad, Thing:112553 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:112553 Once the glue is dry, test fit the fan into the opening, slight amount of filing or trimming might be necessary for a good fit Fan: Splice USB cable with fan. Ziptie the cable to R2X extruter/heater/fan power cable. Installation: Install the nozzle onto the fan grills first Secure the fan grill to R2X Install fan so fan intake is aligned with opening on nozzle Plug in USB cable into power source to turn on the fan
