I wanted to observe and record my creations on my MakerBot Replicator, so I bought a Logitech C525 Webcam. The problem was finding a good place to mount it with a good viewing angle. I enclosed my MakerBot Replicator with an acrylic box on top (with corner blocks I designed and which I will post later) and panels on the front and sides, using these panel holders: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27895 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27865. Then I came up with the idea of mounting this platform I designed in SketchUp to the front acrylic panel. Instructions When building, I used the Replicator's Accelerated Defaults and upped the heated bed temperature to 118 C. After several wrapped ABS prints, I designed the platform with little "mouse ears" in each of the corners of the platform for better adhesive to the bed. Trim these ears after printing. Lay the platform perpendicular to the front acrylic panel where you would like mount the webcam platform and mark the drill holes on the front panel. Drill holes to accomodate a M5 bolt. I recommend using a stepper drill for this, cleaner cut. Bolt the platform to the front panel with two M5x10mm bolts and nuts. You may need to enlarge the bolt holes on the platform with an appropriately sized drill bit.
