Replicator2 BONZA Personal Transporter - MAGNETIC LEVITATION DISPLAY -

The Bonza is a super cool futuristic transportation vehicle of the year 2040. It carries three Ultrapopethius PT-11 engines to allow vertical take-off and landing manoeuvres and gives you one hell of a ride to work. It was very important to me to create a 3D printable vehicle that would have the look and feel of the MakerBot brand. That is why I tried to use really gentle and friendly looking forms, but still delicate enough to amaze people with the capabilities of the Replicator2. I wanted to create a WOW effect by using the most magical thing on earth (well... besides a 3d printer maybe), MAGNETS! My idea is that the MakerBot team could show of their new printer with some cute little floating vehicles of the future. Imagine how cool the MakerBot store would look like with its corner full of colorfull floating BONZA's. The idea behind it has been tried many times by myself in model aircraft and works great! You put one magnet underneath the bottom plate (a magnet like this one: http://www.supermagnete.de/dut/FE-S-100-15?img=4 And you put one inside the vehicle, in the pocket on the bottom: like this one http://www.supermagnete.de/dut/FE-Q-18-10-06 You place them in a way that they repel eachother and you put invisible fishing wires between the base and the BONZA. I've made loops inside of the engines where you can then make a knot with the wire. You then pull the wires from the vehicle trough the holes in the bottom plate, and tape it to the bottom of the plate. You do the same with the nose and tail wires. These wil go trough the bottom side of the vehicle up to the middle where you can tape them between the layers. The last step should be to balance the system out by shifting the length of the wires. It will look soooo awesome when you put these guys on your desk or at your store, and I'm pretty sure you'll amaze all of your friends with it. Model is around 160mm*115mm*88mm (scalable), parts could be printed in different colors to create cool color combinations.
