I had some heat issues with my (PLA) extruder and X-carriage, a M3 threaded rod melted through which I used to mount my hotend. I decided I needed some active cooling before I printed a new X-carriage and Extruder in ABS. So I designed a simple mounting plate for a 4cm fan which bolts on to the bottom of the X-belt clamps. Instructions Get a 4cm fan (I used this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cooling-fan-for-vga-video-display-card-4cm-4cm-15564) Print the mounting plate Drill some holes at the correct position to mount the fan to the plate (I suggest you use tie-wraps) Secure the fan to the mounting plate Bolt the mounting plate to the X-belt clamps (you might need longer bolts for them) Hook up the fan to your electronics Print with some active extruder cooling
