I didn't find any thing made for the keypad RepRapWorld has made ( http://reprap.org/wiki/Keypad, http://reprapworld.com/?products_details&products_id=202&cPath=1591_1626 ), so I did one myself. Works quite well I must say, although the the code ended up with some hardcoded values, which I don't really like. However, I thought, I put it up anyway. The keypad probably won't change much anyway, as otherwise I would like it to be more configurable. But, beeing based on the parametic "Simple Keypad" thing, some parts can be changed quite easly anyway.

Eventually, I want to mount this somewhere I also have the LCD display... for instance, like this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21677 or like this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:18597 ... but for now, those clunky legs will suffice... :)

Also, hopefully someone will make a derivate and add some extra information for the buttons somehow. Such as arrows or something... :)

Instructions

Everything is nicely set up in the .stl file, so just run it through your favorite gcode generator. Then use 4x 30mm M3 scews (and M3 nuts if you want, as the legs have a hole made for one) to assemble the top and legs together.

In case you want to print parts individually, you can load it up in Blender, and split it up there by going into edit mode (TAB key), select a vertex (right click), press CTRL+L, and then "p" and press Enter to a separate the selection as a new object. Then you can just exit edit mode by pressing TAB again, select the object and export as a new .stl file.

The .scad file it somewhat messy because of hardcoded values, and the generated .stl file needs to be edited as objects will be at different heights. Again, this is because I'm basing this on another thing and didn't want to fiddle around too much on it.

Also, for the rotary thing, you can just print this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:20513 and use defaults in the .scad file. I did in the image, although I would recomend making the base circle of it like 1 or 2 mm less in diameter, as it touches the screw in the corner when rotating...
Category: Electronics
