Request: color gradient for Inventor 2016

Here's one solution to this request for a https://grabcad.com/requests/gradient-coloring-of-an-inventor-part-file, creating a custom appearance. At the top of the tool ribbon in Inventor select the "appearance" color wheel. At the bottom of the appearance browser, click the "new" button. (see attached image.) Select "new generic appearance", then insert a gradient image of your own choosing. You may need to edit the image to get the effect you want. I created a simple dragon wing to display my result.
