Retro Spin Top

Retro Spin Top

thingiverse

This is my design of the tops I spun as a kid. They were wood with nothing more than a shouldered nail used as a tip. My brother and I would spin the tops in a hallway with a checkerboard tile floor. We competed for accuracy of the throw and how long a top spun and stayed in the targeted square. Modern tops are much more sophisticated now. They sport anything from high quality bearing tips to specialized materials. Designs range from low quality to sport to competition grades. There are online videos showing the correct way to wind and throw the top. This top is probably not capable of many tricks; but it's still fun to spin. Have fun!
