This is a super simple yet effective way of making [enifs Flexing battery holders with integrated spring](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:456900) reverse battery protected. You can get rid of diode input protection if you just don't allow the user to insert batteries the wrong way round! It's just a shim which you can put into the minus-side of the AA-type holder and secure it in place with a dab of glue. 1.6 to 1.8mm thickness works fine. It depends on what material (wire, copper foil, ...) you use for your contacts.
