Rhombic Hexecontahedron

Rhombic Hexecontahedron

This is a 20 part golden rhombohedron model/puzzle I made in Fusion360 that combines to make a Rhombic Hexecontahedron, along with an assortment of other interesting 3D shapes (see photos). I also modeled a complete Rhombic Hexecontahedron in Fusion360 to see what it would look like (I don't think this would print well though). Just for fun, I also rendered it in solid gold (see photo). If you want to print one in solid gold, and you have some extra cash lying around, send one to me as well! You may be familiar with this shape, as it's used in the logo for the Wolfram Alpha website. If you want to learn more, check out its Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhombic_hexecontahedron The individual units for this polyhedron are golden rhombuses, with the ratio of the long and short diagonals of each face being in the golden ratio. I included circular cut extrusions on three of the sides of each rhombohedron to accommodate 3/8" by 1/16" thick neodymium magnets. 60 magnets are needed in all to complete this project. If you choose to glue in the magnets as I did, I recommend gluing them so that on 10 of your rhombohedrons, you have 2 North and 1 South pole facing out, and for the other 10 rhombohedrons, have 2 South and 1 North pole facing outwards. Some other arrangement might work as well, though I haven't tried it. For glue type, I used E6000. If you know of a better glue for this application, please leave me a comment! If you would rather have this be a solid rhombic hexecontahedron that does not come apart, you can print the 20 pieces and just glue them together. This is what I did for my first prototype, before committing to using up 60 magnets. I was happy with the result so what you see here is V2.0 Enjoy!
