RigidBot Filament Guide
cults3d
I've encountered issues in the past with new filament spools unwinding excessively and becoming tangled - especially after switching to larger 2.3 kilo spools. To counter this, I designed three filament guides that absorb the excess filament when moving the extruder near the end of the X axis, keeping it centered relative to the spool at all times. This has effectively eliminated the problem for me, having printed over 60 hours with both brand new 1kg and 2.3kg spools without any tangling issues. Designed to snap onto the bar beneath the filament rack, I added reinforcements to counteract the slight flexibility required when snapping it into place. For optimal performance, attach a 6mm PTFE tube, like that used in the extruder. It can also be used without the tube solely for guidance purposes, but this will result in a significant loss of slowing effect. When printing with sandstone/wood filament featuring an extremely rough texture, I employed a tube with a larger inner diameter to prevent excessive slowing. I created three versions of the guide, positioned near the front, center, and rear of the frame (as depicted in the photo). These guides are angled both horizontally and vertically, allowing the filament to travel from spool to extruder with minimal twisting.
