Ring Light for Macro Photography

A ring flash provides an even light source that illuminates the subject from the lens. This provides a method for taking photographs without the camera or photographer casting a shadow into the frame. This isn't a ring flash, bur rather a ring light made with inexpensive white LED PVC strips (search: 12v pvc light strip on ebay). The lights are wired to a 12V DC wall wart. This is designed to print in three pieces on a smaller printer, or to be printed as a whole on a larger printer. Hit the customizer to remove the bolt ears if you have a large build space. I'm still waiting for a second light strip that's a bit longer to complete my outside track. Instructions This thing is very customizable and meant to work with any length light strip you can find. Please note the Strip Length variable refers to the INSIDE track circumference. Materials: 2x PVC light strips (preferably of different lengths) 3x 10mm M5 bolts 2x 15mm M5 bolts 5x M5 nuts 8mm dowel DC barrel connector Customize and print the ring flash to your light strips; add a nut to the slot on the top of the ring and insert a bolt. *see the notes below Print the Hot Shoe Adaptor; it will need to be glued together. Add a nut to the slot on the top of the adaptor and insert a bolt. Create an enclosure for your DC connector *see the notes below Solder up the wires (MIND THE POLARITY!) Assemble! Notes: ==Hot Shoe== This should fit most camera hot shoes, but can be adjusted as needed ==Ring Flash== The SCAD file will give the circumference of the outer ring when it is compiled Because MATH! the inside track is shorter than the outside track so two different length lights would work best. ==Wire Box== The cutout for the DC connector can be adjusted in the SCAD file By carefully measuring your DC adaptor you should be able to follow the comments in the wire box scad file and add your own. The DC connector is subtracted from the internal volume of the box for a very snug fit.
