Ring with a Gem Stone Setting

This is a ring I designed as a Christmas/Birthday/Valentine's day present. Specs: It's a size 7 ring meaning the ID of the ring is 17.3mm. The setting is designed to fit a 1.63ct 5.8 x 3.5 mm Round Facet cut stone. The volume of the ring is 328mm^3 or 6.32g in 24k gold. The cost of manufacturing this ring from the 3D print service shape ways at the time of the making of this post is: $8.50 for premium versatile plastic $17.50 for solid silver $25.00 for rose, 14k, or 18k gold plated brass $238.23 for solid 14k yellow, white, or rose gold $364.30 for solid 18k gold Above you can see a clear resin print I made at work on the Form 2 and a, 14k solid yellow gold, final version I gave as a gift. The stone I used was a 1.63ct 5.8 x 3.5 mm Round Facet cut peridot gem. I bought the stone from https://www.gemselect.com. They see to have reasonably good prices and selection. They also have good shipping times in the U.S.A. If you need to resize the ring, I would recommend resizing the band and customizing the prongs to fit your stone. If you need to make changes to the ring I provided an .obj and .igs version of the ring without the prongs. This way you can resize the ring and make the prongs fit a different stone setting if you want. though this will change the pricing listed above. You will need to bend the prongs to hold the stone. Be careful in this process because if your print is SLS it will be very brittle. Shapeways uses a wax casting process for their metal prints which results in a less brittle product but I would still be careful. If you decide to print in plastic you will probably need to customize the prongs for your stone. I would make the prongs a bit closer together so the stone snaps in. Either way, I would also recommend using a dab of E6000 on the bottom of the stone to glue it in. If you don't want to go through the upload process you can buy it straight from my store at https://www.shapeways.com/product/SH9CJSUSW/gift-ring?optionId=139830826 and if you are looking for a ring box then I would suggest this one: https://amzn.to/2ZrRGgJ If you have any questions or suggestions please leave a comment and I will try to get back to you. If you would like some personal advice or help to modify the design then please reach out to me at acreativecurse@gmail.com and we can try to work something out.
