RK17 A00019 is a nearly intact onion bottle unearthed during the excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. In 2017 and 2018, an international team of maritime archaeologists excavated the shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a 300-year-old Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessel that sank on January 1740 off England's coast due to treacherous Goodwin Sands. Post-excavation work began immediately after each campaign, focusing on ex-situ research and the analysis of artefacts recovered from the site. The analysis will continue until the project concludes. The Rooswijk1740 project is funded and led by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture), in collaboration with Historic England and UK-contractor MSDS Marine.
