Update 5-1-16 Added solid models Wanted to make a new heavy duty design for a spool holder that took care of a few things. My old holder was kinda flopping around front to back and it seemed towards the end of the roll I would encounter more snags as the filament was fed side to side. I decided to make a mount that fed the filament from the side at a better angle, more inline. I also added a compensation pulley that allows the filament to be fed higher to achieve a better angle down; the springs allow you to buy some time before a snag becomes a detriment. The compensation pulley rides in a needle bearing, it's tight, I found that it spins best (surprisingly well) if only half the needles are used and some of that tube lube, this may just be my machine tolerances though. The spool holder is designed to be an easier lift off while still adding structural integrity, spool plugs are included. I made the tolerances on the tight side so there may be some massaging of parts to your liking, just didn't want to make them too loose. The model components require no glue, screws, or overhangs...everything snaps into place and to each other and uses the contours of the ROBO case for support. I've included two pairs of sides, one for the spring and one without the spring. To assemble insert slit pin "grab" into far left side of the slit on top of the ROBO, assemble bottom sections and snap them in place. Attach springs to notched xbrace, slide upper brace though springs, pulley and guide then attach sides. Once this is assembled slide into the mounting holes on the two bottom sections..... **Note...in the pic looking into the holder you'll notice the back side is shorter, this was a mistake on my part during the design changing process, it has been corrected to be the same size as the front... CHALLENGE This is a wip to an extent of 90% of my vision. Ultimately here's what I'd like to add that is a little above me at this point. I would like to put two position sensors on the back side...one that senses minor deflection and one that senses major deflection that interface with the pulley bar. The sensors will connect to the brain on this to alter some run conditions. The first sensor being tripped will enable a run condition of 50% feed and 50% speed and will also create an alert being an alarm, flashing light, etc. The second sensor (max deflection) will pause the print, do a minimum filament retraction and kill the hot end. If anybody can pull this off I'll PayPal 20.00. I know it's not a lot but I hope the challenge will make up for it...Thanks...
