I wanted a way to be able to disconnect my printer's bed heater without the usual amount of disassembly. Eventually I settled on a Molex Mini Fit Jr dual row connector, so I created this adapter to mount the plug on the back of the printer. It requires cutting out one piece of the vent grate to make room. I accomplished this with a needle file and it was not much trouble at all. Through a few iterations of the adapter design, however, I still couldn't reliably get the plug to stay in place when plugging in the heater, so I added a couple little tabs and now it's nice and solid. Was it more work than it's worth? Probably. Still, if this is a feature you'd like to add to your printer, I've already done the design work for you. Just be sure to be careful assembling everything so all the circuits match up correctly. Black wire goes to black wire is not going to help you on that cable. I used a metallic silver Sharpie to help orient mine properly. My ideal next step would be to get a second bed so I could swap them out and start another print while one finishes cooling. Whether or not that will play well with z-offset and auto-leveling, though, who knows?
