Rock Band Guitar Strummer spring fix

My strummer did not strum anymore, just flaps around. I looked into getting a new spring, but nobody sells parts anymore. The spring on the inside broke in two. I was thinking, only the middle part where all the action is, is where it has to bend. So I designed an insert for each end. To fix: Crack open the guitar, and remove the spring retainer on the strummer (it goes across one end). Remove the spring pieces. Pick the longer of the 2 Print out 2 of my part Insert in each end of the spring Reinstall modified spring with inserts. Reassemble the guitar ROCK ON!!! It feels almost normal, and I can use it now. Hope it helps someone else out in my situation.
