Rocket Egg Cup

Well, I don't have an EggBot, but I did manage to slap a NASA logo on the side. Thanks, joo! Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.10 - 0.20 mm Infill: 25% Notes: Print upside-down with center supports. I'm still wrestling with a delamination issue in both PLA and ABS. See the last yellow egg cup photo. Some things I've tried are raising the temperature for PLA from 208 to 213, raising the extrusion multiplier by 5%, and thickening the wall from 2 mm to 3 mm to print more shells. No joy yet in PLA. I did have one success in red ABS at 3 mm wall thickness. I'm slicing with Simplify3D at 0.15 layer height, printing shells from inside out. EDIT: The filament appears to detach on the inside perimeter at each leg. Maybe the slicer isn't laying it down ideally. Still looking into it... Post-Printing Carefully remove surface nubs and smooth the edges by scraping with a hobby knife. The red cup is ABS plastic smoothed in an acetone vapor bath. This was my first attempt at smoothing with acetone. I suspected that I wouldn't need much acetone to reach saturating vapor pressure in a jar. Here's the process: Place a metal socket or other support in the center of a clean glass jar. Gently set the cup upside-down onto the socket. Pour one teaspoon of acetone down the side of the jar. Screw on the lid. Wait 2.5 hours, or longer for more smoothing. Remove the lid (outdoors). The part will be soft. It needs time to release acetone. After a couple more hours, take it out and let it dry overnight. Voilà! How I Designed This Built from scratch in 123D Design using joo's design as a guide. I used ellipses and fillets to create the legs. The NASA worm logo was retired in 1992, but I thought it would print better than the meatball logo. If it looks warped to you, rotate the cup 15 degrees up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_insignia https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NASA_Worm_logo.svg The NASA logo SVG file would not import into 123D Design. I used Inkscape to create a new SVG file from the highest resolution JPG file.
