How do I look? You look like a hood ornament.. This was one of my favorite movies growing up. This helmet is now after finishing as accurate as I can make it. I printed the helmet at one go. I printed the fin in separate pieces with registration so they would fit together tightly. The lenses were made from forming the negative space in the helmet and sculpting it with modeling clay. A piece of acrylic was heated and placed on top of a vacuform I built for the occasion. (If you would like to have the plans for that tool let me know I will be happy to upload the files for you to use.) The lenses were then tinted using plain old window tint and then attached with rivets. I sanded off the old rivet locations on the model when I was finishing mine; opting instead to use the pile of rivets in my shop. Finally, I went and purchased some brown quilted material from the fabric store and sewed the liner and attached the chin strap; which I made from a strip of leather and a push button. The welds on the finished helmet were created with hot glue. Put down in a solid line on top of wax paper, split in two and then painted to look like a weld. These I glued to either side of the fin where it meets the helmet portion.
