Video: https://vimeo.com/653031782 Customizable Hirth joint to attach on a dowel's (or a rod's) end. The design is done in two separate parts of Pin and Socket. I imagine it could have multiple applications but I made a configurable articulated arm out of it, using a drywall screw and a compression spring, as shown in the photos. #Customizing The design requires [Hirth Joint Library](https://github.com/GillesBouissac/agentscad/wiki/Hirth-Joint) to be installed on OpenSCAD. Almost everything is customizable, including nozzle's diameter, the depth of the insert, rod's diameter, axis (pin's) diameter, Hirth teeth function, number of teeth and teeth height. **Note:** The rod insert is designed a bit loose, because I wanted to glue the dowel in the insert. If you need a tighter fit, you can reduce 0.3 mm clearance on line 24: ``` rod_d = $rod_diameter + 0.3 + $nozzle / 2.0; ``` #Disclaimer This design is published under BSD license, therefore the users are responsible to make sure the safe usage of the joint in their designs.
