this bottle holder will hold the drinking straw (the one with the metal ball inside) at a height of roughly 3.5cm (1 1/4") off the landing patch. it is advisable to attach it to the wall of the cage - I used a double sided tape. hamsters were very happy drinking from it. however I eventually replaced it with something better (check my other parts to see) the water bottle is 42mm in diameter (1 5/8") the one in the photo is 14cm tall (5 1/2")
