Rolling Log Mousetrap

Rolling Log Mousetrap

Yet another Rolling Log Moustrrap. There are lots of youtube videos out there to see how this works. This one uses a 3/8" rod (delrin, metal, wood, doesn't matter much) inside of a 1/2" pvc pipe (conduit pipe or sprinkler pipe). The bucket is a typical 5 gallon utility bucket such as the Home Depot bucket. The ramp for the mouse last walk is 1x2 wood, 3 feet long. It can be attached to the clip with screws from the bottom of the clip (#8 wood or 8-32 machine screws), or with a zip tie through the provided slot. There are two versions of the clip in the files section. One has a boss with screw holes and a zip tie slot for attaching the ramp, which the other is just the clip with the hole for the axle. The clip just presses onto the bucket rim, no fasteners required. There are holes in the clip for set screws, again #8, to secure the axle if that proves to be necessary (I found the press fit to be sufficient). Home Depot Bucket: https://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Home-Depot-5-Gal-Homer-Bucket-05GLHD2/100087613 1x2 wood: Home Depot has a number of 1x2 wood strips, 8' long, for about $2. And if you have a piece of scrap laying around that is wider, that will work as well. 3/8" Dowel: anything will work. The least expensive would be this one from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Waddell-3-8-in-x-48-in-Round-Birch-Dowel-6706U/203706882 I did this design on Onshape.com, which gives free accounts to students, educators and hobbyists. Here's the link to use. If you have an account, you can copy and edit. If you dont' have an account, you can only view. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/1f4d509acd227db508b264db/w/8572b25ead11cd0731580b2f/e/ca53e967b3b2a1e04fc8fc43 I put this together after multiple occurences of mice not setting off my conventional trap I filled the bucket about 1/3 with water. It has captured a couple of mice in the first 12 hours of use, so I'm happy that it's working better than conventional mousetraps.
